High School Rankings – how Cupertino schools stack up?

Monta Vista High is ranked the 11th best high school in California by the prestigious US News and World Reports 2016 rankings, and ranked 101st nationally.

The school was singled out because “Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Monta Vista High is 85 percent. The student body makeup is 49 percent male and 51 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 84 percent. Monta Vista High is 1 of 6 high schools in the Fremont Union High District.”

Here are rankings for the other five schools in the Fremont Union High School District:

  • Lynbrook High/San Jose – #17 state / #131 national
  • Cupertino High/Cupertino – #63 state / #392 national
  • Homestead High/Cupertino – #113 state / #695 national
  • Fremont High/Sunnyvale – #304 state / #1662 national

 

“The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia,” states U.S. News & World Report. “Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college.”

This is the most basic form and the easiest

Count  up to 99

Perfected by Koreans, this technique is called Chisenbop and allows to count up to 99.

Put your hands on the table, palms down with thumbs towards each other.

The fingers on the right hand represent the units, with the thumb representing number 5.

The fingers on the left hand represent the tens, with the thumb representing number 50.

UP TO 10^10

An old Chinese method allows us to count up to 100,000 on one hand and up to 10,000,000,000 using two hands, touching the markers as required. Don’t try to count up to 10B. It will take a few life times ..
